Our client is a climate tech venture building the world’s first net-zero homes and communities. They have partnered with Engie, a global leader in energy generation and management to develop a 1000-home, 10MW community in the Philippines that saves over 6,000 tons of C02 annually. Their homes generate additional monthly income for the homeowners, increasing their affordability and contributing to economic development.

Based in Singapore, the overall goal of the COO is to ensure optimal performance, quality, cost, schedule and safety of projects, while driving extensive and sustainable business growth. In the role of Chief Operating Officer, you will:

  • Be a business growth leader and hacker, with a strong understanding of finance.
  • Lead the structure and organisation of the firm (set up, legalities, structuring, team formation).
  • Lead operations and execution arm (engineering, project management, sourcing).
  • Constantly evaluate and improve the organization’s day-to-day operations, processes, people and procedures to ensure quality, speed, safety and value creation.
  • Understand and build complex business and financial models.
  • Responsible for planning execution; ensuring that all operations are planned and executed in an organised manner, with clear follow ups and reporting over the course of execution.
  • Be responsible for tracking key business performance metrics, understand efficiency metrics across operations, cost, quality, time, etc, and suggest/ implement tactics to continuously advance performance.
  • Develop, maintain and create value for the firm through commercial cost strategies with key engineering, procurement and construction partners.
  • Responsible for closing contracts with relevant suppliers, vendors and partners.
  • Manage relationships among partners, suppliers and staff.
  • Monitoring and reporting of industry trends and best practices in solar and affordable housing.
  • Extensive travel will be required with primary responsibility of project delivery.

Preferred Experience

Skills & Experience Preferred

  • Proven experience as COO or in a relevant role.
  • Prior experience in solar, energy, real estate development or finance industries are highly preferred.
  • International working experience, especially in the Philippines is necessary.
  • Background in business, with a strong track record of managing and growing teams, establishing systems and KPIs, and driving both revenue and profitability.
  • An astute thinker who can manage risks and problem solve.
  • Analytical and data-driven, with a keen knowledge of budget processes and tools.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and a team player.
  • A change agent who is excited about continuous improvement and challenges the status quo.
  • Grit and tenacity to work through ambiguity and unforeseen challenges.
  • Absolutely passionate and committed to ending global homelessness.
